Oranges

Ingredients

Preparation

  1. Bland

    Step 1

Vanilla is delightfully compatible with orange flavor, as the Dreamsicle people learned years ago. Add a tiny bit of vanilla extract to your indifferently flavored oranges, and to indifferently flavored orange juice as well.

  2. Difficult to peel

    Step 2

Pour boiling water over the oranges and let them stand for 5 minutes. The peels will come off very easily, and so will all the white pith under the peel. The peel is permanently loosened by this technique, so you can do it in advance and still refrigerate the oranges. This process also tends to make the oranges considerably juicier.

  3. Not juicy

    Step 3

See Difficult to Peel. Or roll the oranges around on a table, as if you were trying to make them rounder. That really loosens up the old juices.
