Sauteed Shrimp with Caraway Seeds

3/4 pound large shrimp (about 15)
1 garlic clove
3/4 teaspoon caraway seeds
1 tablespoon olive oil
Accompaniments: lemon wedges

Preparation

  1. Step 1

    Shell shrimp. Mince garlic and with a mortar and pestle coarsely grind caraway seeds. In a 10- to 12-inch heavy skillet heat oil over moderately high heat until hot but not smoking and sauté shrimp, stirring, 2 1/2 minutes. Add garlic and caraway seeds and sauté, stirring, until shrimp are just cooked through, about 30 seconds more.

  2. Step 2

    Serve shrimp with lemon wedges and cabbage.
