Brownie Cut-Out Hearts

Ingredients

Preparation

  1. What better gift for a chocolate lover than heart-shaped brownies stacked atop frosted brownie cupcakes? Prepare the brownie recipe on page 322; it yields 2 dozen cupcakes and an 8-inch square for cutting out hearts. Using an offset spatula, spread cupcakes with fluffy vanilla frosting (page 302) tinted pink with gel-paste food color. Cut out hearts from the brownie square using a 1 1/2-inch cookie cutter. Place hearts on frosted cupcakes, pressing gently to adhere. Decorated cupcakes can be refrigerated up to 3 days in airtight containers; bring to room temperature before serving.
